When the Oxygen channel came out with the reality television show, “The Bad Girls Club,” I refused to watch it. Now, after two and a half seasons I am glued to the show. I just finished watching the marathon. Though the girls, or characters, are interesting, they are not phenomenal in any way. The real appeal of the show is the drama, arguments and physical fights between the roommates in the Bad Girls Club house. I fell deep into this trap this week while watching the violent show. While watching the marathon I was cheering on the roommates when they got into bar brawls with customers and clapped my hands when one of the roommates that I didn’t like got cussed out by a roommate I did support. I watched the drama and nodded my head with the confrontation. That is, until the newest episode. The episode that aired this week, Amber M. was attacked by three of her roommates. In the fight her hair was snatched, she was punched, slapped, pushed onto the pavement and kicked once in the head. After the fight Amber M. retreated to a different hotel room and the other roommates celebrated their actions. This episode disgusted me and made me take another look at the image that I was supporting.

Females getting into fights is not a new trend in reality television. However, it is a trend that needs to stop. As women, we should be conducting ourselves in an honorable way. We should not be calling each other “bitches” “sluts” or “whores.” It saddens me to see women tear each other down.

Women insulting each other also opens up the door for others to do the same. I a a firm believer that, if you keep calling a female a bitch, a male will feel that he can, too. As women, we disrespect each other too much to have a man doing it as well.

I am tired of seeing the rip between women widen.

Today, singer Chris Brown stood before a judge concerning his alleged assault against Feb 8th with girlfriend Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty. According to TMZ.com, the session took roughly 4 minutes and 20 seconds.

In court, Brown and his attorney Mark Geragos did not enter a plea to the two felony charges he is facing. According to CNN, authorities have charged Brown with felony counts of assault and making criminal threats. If he is convicted, his punishment ranges from probation to four years and eight months in prison.

While in court, the judge granted the pop singer’s request to move the arraignment to April 6th. Someone tell me why. While in court, Brown also signed a waiver of presence….This document  allows his lawyer to act on his behalf… meaning that he will not have to show up to any minor court proceedings before April.

The judge did give the Brown the command that “You are not to annoy, harass, molest, threaten or use force or violence against anyone.”

I was able to read the police’s report of what happened to Rihanna that unfortunate night. It is graphic.

Here is the police report:

I know that I am supposed to stay professional…but…..I was shocked and disgusted…
People joke around and say, Rihanna angered him and made him hit her. Rihanna should have hit him back. Rihanna should have jumped out of the car. Rihanna is a softie. I disagree with all of these statements. Even if Brown did anger Rihanna, he did not have to go as far as to hit her repeatedly. He did not have to lose control of his anger. Rihanna fighting back would have been ideal, but she was probably in pain and in shock. Do you know what it is like to be a young woman and have a male yelling over you? I have been in that situation (verbal) and it is intimadating. You want to step back and protect yourself but your feet can barely move. Rihanna did everything but jump out of the car- she tried to call someone twice, gauge out his eyes and curled into the fedal position to protect herself. It is very scary when you are up against a man who is stronger than you I myself was scared and shocked. To have someone you love and trusted standing over you cussing you out…….I can barely imagine what Rihanna went through to have it turn violent. This a serious matter.

,both canceled their performances and did not show up to the Grammys. Entertainment Weekly reported that the couple was involved in a car crash. Fans and reporters learned later that that information was false.

Chris Brown was voluntarily turned himself in to the LAPD’s Wilshire station in L.A., Ca. He was released on $50,000 bail.

According to E! Online, Brown and Rhianna were in the Hancock Park area at 12:30 a.m. They were heading  driving home from Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy party.

Allegedly the couple got in an argument about Chris Brown receiving a text message from another girl. Chris pulled over and the argument escalated. Allegedly Chris repeatedly hit Rhianna in the face with her fist. Rhianna got out of the car. A woman called 911 when she heard Rhianna’s screams.

Many news sites such as E! news, CNN, TMZ and People are reporting that Chris Brown beat Rhianna as though they know 100%. Celebrities have also been interviewed about the case.

I, for one, am tired of people reporting the Chris Brown matter before the police report is released. NO one but Chris and Rhianna know for sure what happened. As journalist, we should not be reporting news until we know all of the facts. I am extremely annoyed.
