I have been in it before, but the day before the inauguration I able to visit Con. George Miller’s office. I love  Con. Miller. Through my mother I have known the congressman for years. He is so open and compassionate when it comes to those in need. He has traveled to other countries just to help out. His city is claimed to one of the toughest in the Bay Area. He is working hard to make a difference. Growing up a African American kid I have heard all sorts of things about people of other races. Con. Miller, kicks them all in the bum.

I am in Washing D.C.!

Today was WONDERFUL! I woke up at 9 am and went to breakfast in the hotel. A waste of time…..gross besides the cereal. We got dressed and after a delay of waiting for each other, we were on our way. My family and I drove and then took the Metro from our hotel at the edge of VA to D.C. I had the beautiful privilege of attending the concert hosted at the Lincoln Memorial =] . We tried to make our way to the front of the stage but it quickly became clear that that would have only happened if we had left earlier [duh!].

Walking towards the Memorial we saw masses of people. I have to include the people selling memorabilia. Man, put Obama’s name /face on ANYTHING and it will sell! Key chains, flags, beanies, shirts, posters…..you name it.

Anyways, there were people all over on the lawn leading to the Lincoln Memorial. It really touched me to see people of all ages and nationalities together. I can not describe how that made me feel. I was so proud to be there will all of those people.

At the concert held at the Memorial, I was able to catch Stevie Wonder, Usher, Shakira, U2 and some else I didn’t recognized. I wanted to cry S0 bad, but I was with my family haha. Tomorrow we are going sight seeing.

I didn’t have internet access in the airport, so i typed this on Microsoft

As I type this blog, I am sitting in the Norfolk Airport waiting for my plane. I am going to the inauguration in Washington DC. I am SO excited. I know that it is going to be very cold freezing really. But I am still excited. The way I see it: if people can stand in line wearing a mini dress in the freezing cold, then they can stand in cold to watch history.

Monday is going to be history to me not only because Obama is the first biracial president. It is also an important day to me because of the events that were an effect of Obama being elected of president. This year, so many youth and young adults voted of encouraged others to vote. Celebrities, posters, songs, clothing and books were used to gain voters. In addition, matters that were usually not discussed between kids and adults actually happened. When was that last time you saw adults asking young adults their opinion on politics? On health care? On economics and pensions? I am SO proud to say that I live in a country where these things can happen. MAN! Haha , I am so excited.

I worked to get Obama elected. I campaigned 5 days a week passing out literature, talked to strangers. I went door-to-door in the sharp winds, ice cold rain and every combination in between. Do you know that my FIRST day, they gave me a map of the surrounding areas and left me there for hours? Haha. I am happy to say that I made a difference, though. I helped make history.

I am happy to be going.

Thermal shirt: $15. Winter Scarf matching set: $20……..witnessing history: PRICELESS!

I am sitting in the airport in D.C. I’m waiting for the rest of my family to fly in. and I sam still excited. Ut cold. I better noy get sick. There were only 15 people on my flight. RANDOM! But the airport is FULL of people. Of all sizes and races. Luggage everywhere. Roller carts everywhere. And there are even programs of people helping ppl get from their flights to their …..hotels? The ignaration iis giving this airport business! I called  my dad. He didn’t say anything about geting me an ipod =/

*Every black person is in a fur coat. My goodness! Black people are so proud to be seeing their black person. I mean this in no sarcasms. They are so happy to be here. Yes, it’s cold. But, obvisiously there is a reason behind the fact that they are wearing fur over plain wool. I love it…….
